Tackling the relationships between New Luxury Business Models and Chinese Tax Fraud in Madrid.
The project deals with the dichotomous relationship between money laundering and tourism. We focused on activities related to the Chinese mafia in Madrid and proposed potential solutions with the help of existing technologies and legal frameworks, such as radio-frequency identification (RFID) and free ports.
Exploratory research: “Following the money”
In order to better understand the events involved, we 3D modeled each of the scenes wherein money and/or product exchange was produced. In doing so, we explored how physicality and legal frameworks may affect the behaviors of all implied agents. According to our process, the research took the next order:
1) Luxury Stores in Madrid’s Milla de Oro; 2) Madrid’s Airport: Adolfo Suárez; 3) Interview with Woonivers’ CEO; 4) Chinese Black Markets; 5) Hunting Grounds; 6) Polygon of Cobo Calleja
Analyzing Patterns; Bringing the pieces together.
After thoroughly analyzing the scenery, we recreated a visual scheme to understand the interconnectedness of the events, which gave us a better imprint of the system as a whole. Scrutinizing the underlying patterns inspired us in unexpected ways, coming up with disparate alternatives that could benefit all parties.
